Is dental implant surgery painful and what anesthesia do you use?
Implant surgery is painless and is performed under local anesthesia. When needed, a special type of anesthesia called conscious sedation can be performed as well. After the surgery, pain may be felt and a swelling may occur. For most patients, any of the painkillers you might take for a headache, will be all that is needed for a few days. If you experience more discomfort than this, stronger medications can be prescribed.
What to eat/do after surgery?
You will receive a brochure with detailed instructions for postoperative treatment.
Generally, after implant surgery, you should take more liquids and consume soft and pureed food. During the healing process it is good to have food, that does not require much chewing. Chewing forces should be kept gentle in the first 4 to 6 months.
Smoking is not recommended.
How to maintain dental implants and crowns/bridges?
As with natural teeth, implants need to be looked after and regular check-ups are essential to prolong their life. You should look after implants much the same as natural teeth, but you should pay particular attention to the implant sites. Brushing twice a day, flossing and regular hygiene appointments will keep them healthy. An annual implant review is very important to check the quality of bone and gum health around the implant area.
Conscious home care and regular professional examinations are essential for their stability.
How often should I go for an implant and crown/bridge checkup?
It is recommended to have a professional examination at least twice a year.
What should I do if I have a problem?
If you have any problems, we encourage you to contact us immediately and we will help you to find the most effective solution for your condition.
What warranty do the implants have?
Warranty of constructions - 5 years under certain conditions.
As implants are similar to natural teeth, if they are looked after, they should last for many years. There is a small chance that an implant fails to osseo-integrate, that is, it does not become attached to the bone. We would normally become aware of this during the healing phase, after implant placement, and if that happens, we’ll have to remove the implant and place new one, several weeks later. Once integrated and functioning, you have in excess of a 90% chance of each implant still performing fine after 25 years. Therefore implants are a long term and predictable treatment option.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, debit/credit card, bank transfer (prior to surgery), direct online payment methods.
