Our standards

We believe in informed choice. As a standard we maintain excellent inventory availability of implants and other materials from a limited number of brands, chosen after a vigorous selection process. As an implant-specialized clinic we have focused on these few brands because of two main factors – price/quality ratio and availability:

Price/quality: As an implant-specialized unit we experience great economies of scale, while being able to maintain unbeatable price/quality ratio. Working at high volumes, we are able to source implants and all other materials directly from the producers with bulk discounts.

Availability: Maintaining adequate inventory is important because different implants and materials are required for each patient case. This is extremely important for implants in order to achieve high treatment success rate (see why here). For example implants vary in type, diameter and length and have to be planned separately for each implant so it fits perfectly in the jawbone. It seems that even local distributors often fail to maintain full inventory and this results in a compromise. We however guarantee the full availability in our materials and implant range which secures better success rate.

Digital Dentistry: Recent technology innovations bring huge advancements in dentistry.  Processes have become more user friendly, efficient and reliable. We all at Sofia Implant Centre fully embrace the trends in digital dentistry. Our team is continuously trained in the latest technologies and we maintain the highest class of dental equipment.

On the other hand, often we are able to respond to patient requests for other materials and implant brands.

Straumann is a global leader in dental implants with more than 60 years of manufacturing experience. 35 years of clinical trials with over 100 scientific publications per year that meet the highest standards of research. The company has more than 3,400 employees worldwide and its products are available in over 70 countries. Straumann has more than 15 million implants worldwide. These data, in themselves, speak of exceptional quality and reliability.

A relatively new brand from Modena, Italy in the middle price segment. Jdental are high quality implants, made in a new modern production base, with care for details and quality. The company adheres to the highest international standards and operating procedures, using strictly certified raw materials and high-tech manufacturing machines.
Highly qualified staff constantly monitors production processes and performs very strict control over production. The implants have undergone clinical trials and have numerous scientific publications. After carefully researching and visiting several production bases, we chose to partner with JDental because they are open about their production practices, their large investment in the production base and the support we receive as a partner. One of the important factors for us was that JDental are simple to use and compatible with many other major brands.

is a Brazilian brand with a 25-year history, which was purchased by Straumann about 10 years ago. Neodent claims to be the second largest implant producer in the world and are positioned in the mid-price segment. They are used by many surgeons worldwide and have been proven for success over time.

Guided Surgery – The Implantation Protocol at Sofia Implant Centre

All surgeons at Sofia implant centre undergo advanced trainings at our partner clinic in Modena, Italy – Tomasso Grandi Dental Clinic (link). We follow the highest standards in implantology protocols and digital dentistry.

Unless specifically requested by the patient, all implants at Sofia Implant Centre are placed using surgical guides, which secures precision, painless recovery and higher success rates. Get to know more about the befits of using surgical guides in this video:

Full Jaw Restoration (All-On-4/6)

Sofia Implant Center uses the most advanced medical protocols when performing the All-on-4 full jaw restoration. We often get questions about what exactly makes us different:

– GUIDED SURGERY: Guided surgery is the most advanced method of placing implants. Thanks to surgical guides, implant placement is performed with minimal surgical incision, maximum accuracy and precision, and significantly less pain.

– GRAFTLESS: The All-on-4 protocol excludes bone grafting by default – executed correctly, the implants bypass the sinus – the most problematic area to implant.

– PTERYGOID AND TRANS-SINUS IMPLANTS: The pterygoid and trans-sinus implant procedures are groundbreaking procedures which provide a viable solution for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw, who would otherwise be ineligible for dental implant treatment.

– IMMEDIATE LOADING OF IMPLANTS: Proper execution of All-on-4 allows for immediate loading of implants. This means that the patient leaves the clinic with a fixed jaw on the first visit, rather than a removable prosthesis.

Crowns and Bridges

When restoring your teeth there are a few options for finishing materials. Undoubtedly, zirconium is the premium choice with lots of marketing hype about it, but also there are other innovative materials that offer similar if not better finish.

Zirconium

Zirconium seems to be the preferred choice for dental crowns nowadays. Its functional and aesthetic advantages are well acknowledged. However not every zirconium dioxide is made equal (read more here)!

For the bigger structures (3+ bridges, all-on-4/6) we only work with high strength multilayer zirconium blanks:

For the smaller zirconium reconstructions (one to three teeth) we work with Zolid FX Multilayer polychromatic super high translucent zirconia blanks made by Austrian company Amann Girrbach (product webpage):

Zirconium Stain and Glaze materials
We use IPS Ivocolor, which is a high-quality universal range of Stain and Glaze materials for the press, CAD and layering ceramics from Ivoclar (product webpage)

G-CAM – Graphene nano-reinforced biopolymer

The graphene nano-reinforced biopolymer G-CAM disc is designed for permanent dental structures. It is available as multilayer blanks that have an natural aesthetic appearance, as well as resolving all the mechanical, physicochemical and biological failures of the rest of the materials currently used in the sector. It is a new graphene-based material developed and produced by the Spanish company GrapheNano Dental (product webpage).

For coloring and glazing of G-CAM (as well as the composite restorations) we use OPTIGLAZE™ by the Japanese company GC. This is color light-cured characterization coating for composite and acrylic indirect restorations (product page).

G-CAM vs Zirconia

E-MAX crowns and veneers are made from lithium desilicated ceramic. The material that has been known for its translucent color and strength. As a result, you get a crown or veneer that is tough and durable and very esthetic. We use IPS e.max CAD produced by Ivoclar Vivadent (Liechtenstein) (product page).

3D Printer Resins

3D printing is a key process in any modern lab. From printing models to temporary crowns and bridges, 3D printing in Sofia Implant Centre is done exclusively with high-end ASIGA printer and original resins all made by ASIGA (Australia, product page) and NextDent (the Netherlands, product page).
